Firstly animal taming. The range on the skill is quite poor. If you are only a couple of tiles away the skill won't continue, or won't even start to begin with. I am not asking for a huge range, but at least 4 or 5 tiles would feel significantly more fair.
Secondly the fact that a huge number of animals seem to have the "you have no chance of taming this animal" cap makes it very hard to train up the skill from lower levels. It seems weird to me that you can't even attempt to train them, thereby increasing your skills in the process even if it is a guaranteed fail.

Also I would love to see a way to increase your pet limit. As this shard seems to lend itself to a "play your way" approach, I think only having 5 slots really limits the usefulness of necromancy and animal taming. A mount, a familiar, and a vengeful spirit (I haven't cast it yet so I am not sure if it does in fact take up 3 slots, but this is the necro default) would take up every spot you have, making it so you can't attempt to tame anything else.

Thanks muchly for taking the time to consider these suggestions. :)

You can gain more follower slots with the herding skill.
